12 Days of Christmas Challenge :: HIIT Workout #8
Sometimes I just get a spontaneous idea and roll with it. Today that wild idea happened to be creating daily workouts leading up to Christmas, in hopes that we can all stay on track….or at least balance out all the holiday goodies 🙂 There are a few different ways you can do this challenge, you can go 12 days once through, you can do the 12 days and repeat them for 2 full rounds of the challenge up until Christmas, or you can do one workout every other day, spacing out the 12 workouts, up until Christmas!! I have so many options and modifications so there is something for everyone no matter what your fitness level – no excuses 🙂
As I was going through and recording the first workout, I decided to add on a recipe of the day – scroll down for today’s healthy recipe : ‘Eggnog’ Protein Shake
12 Days of Christmas :: Day 8 REPS 8x8x8
Day 8 can work a few different ways (and there will be a video, so don’t you worry), but I thought I would post the breakdown for it early so you can decide how you want to do the workout.
There are two different 8x8x8’s – one that is all bodyweight cardio for those of you with no equipment at home, and another that is all weighted for those of you that have been asking for more strength workouts.
Option 1 : Complete the 8x8x8 bodyweight cardio as your workout (Bodyweight Cardio video)
Option 2: Complete the 8x8x8 weighted strength as your workout (Weighted Strength video x2)
Option 3: Complete all 16 exercises, 8 reps of each, 4x through
Option 4: Complete BOTH 8x8x8 all the way through for a total cardio/strength challenge
Option 5: Follow along with me in the videos below
1. Jack Press
3. High Knee (8x each leg)
4. Squat Jump
5. Plank Shoulder Taps
7. Narrow/Wide Squat Touchdown
8. Ski Ab (L/R), Pushup
2. Bicep Curl
3. Backward Lunge L
4. Backward Lunge R
5. Tricep Kickback
6. Shoulder Circles
7. Plate Jump – Overhead
8. Upright Row
**Below you will find a ‘heathier’ version of traditional holiday eggnog. This recipe was actually created by my husband – I’m not a big eggnog person, but he loves it!! This version is something I can get into.
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 1-2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream (reduce or omit for a lightened up version)
- 1 banana
- ¾ cup almond milk, unsweetened plain or vanilla
- ¾ cup water
- Blend all ingredients together - add ice if you wish - enjoy!!
