I was totally inspired by fellow BodyRocker Kimberly to branch out and try new green smoothies – I feel like I have been stuck in a rut with smoothies and typically stick with the same few. I decided I needed a “Green Smoothie Makeover”!!
Over the weekend I signed up for the 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge from http://simplegreensmoothies.com/30-day-challenge. Co-founders of the site are Jadah & Jen – two mothers who are passionate about health, life, and creating delicious green smoothies. What I really loved about them is that they don’t view this as a diet, but rather a lifestyle!! True that – how can you not love them already?! Check out their site to learn more about them and what their mission is.
I signed up for the challenge and got my first email with the “Green Smoothie Crash Course” – it contains a link to a PDF that you can save on your computer or phone….very cool!! Each recipe makes approximately 2 servings (4-5 cups) – one serving is 2 cups, so feel free to modify the recipes accordingly!!
You will need a blender for this challenge and I posted a shopping list on my Facebook page, but here it is again :
2-3 bags/bunches spinach
2 bags/bunches kale
Almond milk, unsweetened
Coconut water (2 cups)
Mangos – fresh or frozen, total 3 1/2 cups
Strawberries – fresh or frozen, total 3 cups
Blueberries – fresh or frozen, 1/2 cup
OJ – fresh or bottled
*I bought and will be using both fresh and frozen fruit to help keep the smoothies cold, however you can always blend in some ice.
I am really excited to do this challenge and hope you will join along with me – first up for me tomorrow is the Peachy Kale smoothie!!
