So most of you probably know that I LOVE trying new things and challenging myself. I think about it like this, if we don’t even try, how will we ever know what we are capable of? We’ve got to start somewhere to give ourselves a launching pad for improvements….what doesn’t challenge us, doesn’t change us. It is all about those little victories!!
While I was drinking my coffee this morning I had a great idea, I will share a demo of a move or post a cool move that inspires me every Monday. Practice it (at your level) and challenge yourself to try it for one minute – counting your reps as you go. Share your scores, pictures, and videos on my Facebook page – by sharing your awesome self, you are inspiring others to step out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves as well!!
Don’t get down on yourself or discouraged if there is a move that you can’t do YET…remember, we all start somewhere and are at different stages of our fitness journey! The only person you need to compare yourself with is YOU – this is YOUR journey!! #trainingforLIFE
Today’s move : Pistol Getups (with or without weight)
Stand straight up with the weight overhead. Extend one leg and sit back into a pistol squat, coming all the way to the ground. Lay flat and bring the weight overhead and switch legs. Bring the weight forward and come straight up on one leg back to stand. Sit back in a pistol squat again and repeat for as many reps as you can!
Example of modification: Hold weight in R hand, keep L leg bent and R leg extended. Use your L hand to help push you up to standing.
**My score for 1 minute with a 5 lb dumbbell was : 5 Left, 5 Right for a total of 10 reps.
